From ragtag San Diego party crew to shamans of their own cultural movement, Desert Hearts has taken the nation by storm with their utterly contagious good vibrations–summed up by the community through their simple mantra “House, Techno, Love.”  The Desert Hearts Festival experience is extremely difficult to put into words, but if you haven’t been able to experience it firsthand, my review should give you a glimpse into their magical world.   The fall festival in November still seems eons away, but luckily the DH crew is giving us a little something to get by with their City Hearts Endless Summer tour, which covers thirteen stops across the US in all of their favorite cities.

Desert Hearts followers can catch the crew for a double header in Brooklyn, a special Paradigm Presents event in Chicago, as well as in Miami, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Seattle, Denver and more, plus the beachside oasis of Genius Loci Festival in Mexico and a tour capping takeover at Symbiosis Gathering.   I’m personally looking forward to their Fourth of July weekend party in their hometown of San Diego on July 3rd.

Tickets will be on sale soon here.

To get the vibes flowing before you see your Desert Hearts crew again, Lee Reynolds and good friend Machino have just released their debut EP on Desert Hearts Records.  The exploratory compilation, appropriately titled “Moon  Matrix,” straddles the realms of ambient and psychedelic techno that the two veterans have cultivated for many years.  Beginning with the ethereal “Flores,” to the heavy grooves of “Moon Matrix” and “Very Heavy,” returning to the powerful, dark “Puma Punku,” this is one EP that will keep you grooving from sundown to sun up with your favorite freaks.

Heralded as the father of Desert Hearts, or “Papa Lee,” Lee Reynolds recently shot a candid video that details his journey from BMX rider to musical sorcerer and everything in between:
