Holy blood bursting bass, Batman. If Galantis here doesn’t bust your brain out of the cell you keep it locked in and fuse it with your body into one bombastic bust-a-move, then I’m really afraid that the rhythm just ain’t never gonna be with you, son.  Because ‘Friend (Hard Times)’ is that perfect bit of IDM that’s perfectly attuned to the rhythms of a dancefloor and the way bodies meld together on them into one blissful orgy–if only prompted with the proper source material.

There’s a lot of bands out there right now trying to capitalize on the space that Disclosure blew open on the scene. But none do so with enough of their own flair to rocket them into their own mental shelf space as Galantis. Taking into account  the way that Disclosure brought inspirational lyrics with arrangements that both force bodies to move while allowing them to breathe (instead of cluttering a track with a suffocating level of music or improperly timed breaks), Galantis have also injected infusions upon infusions of color into their songs. So that bass serving as a chorus? It feels like someone beating a paint drum into your soul as you dance. Fucking awesome.
