Like a lightning shot of adrenaline, the proper mix of melodies, bpms, and soaring synths in expert hands can concoct a brew that, when taken in, has the alarmingly instant intoxication of movement. It comes on suddenly – no waiting around to digest these sonic edibles – leaving your mind racing to catch up to the chemicals now dancing around your brain. As the dopamine courses through your capillaries, a warming sensation creeps through your body – not unlike eating your favorite dessert, copping some cocaine, or even falling in love (BBC).
But of course, it’s all of those and more as I’ve come to find out, and harnessing the power of music to alter our moods is nothing new.
