It’s always a good day when the LAMP crew out of Los Angeles has something new for us. These guys constantly push the boundaries of genre-bending music and their quality output has put them on the radar globally as an electronic force to be reckoned with.

“Higher Living” from Leo Islo is exactly what you need to kick back and forget about the bullshit that life throws at you. If you really close your eyes and feel this song, there’s no doubt it will be felt through every inch of flesh and bone that you’re made up of. This is what you need. Music in your blood, in your heart, in your eyes. Personally, when I hear a song that strikes my musical palate as tasty, I try to experience it through as many senses as possible. Yes, music is heard, but I believe it is also felt and seen and it bursts through you in the most meaningful of ways.

This track is not just about living up to a higher standard that we set for ourselves, but it’s about going out and being alright with who you are at the core. Not many people take time to do that these days, to actually sit back and focus on themselves. When I hear Leo Islos’ soothing vocals, I’m taken to a space in my head that exists only for me. People need to tap into that more. Find that vibe that is only just for you and you alone. Cherish that time where it’s just you and the fucking music. Who says you need to be in a crowded club with a bunch of douchebags to feel a part of a scene or a movement?! I’ll gladly rock Leo here on my headphones all night with a beer in one hand and a joint in the other and not give any fucks about what people have to say. No more Mr. Nice Guy, I’m done hearing how “things have to be a certain way” and “this is how it is.” THIS is how it is. It’s about an independent collective like LAMP curating and sourcing the best music and DJs in the game to put out records and mixes that please people from all backgrounds and lifestyles. Maybe it’s because they focus on the music and block out the bullshit, but I think they’re on to something and if you know what’s good for you, you’ll tune in.
