Last year, New England duo Child Actor released their Victory EP – and to my dismay, I didn’t hear a single thing from it. Shame on me, I know. However it’s always better late than never, as I’ve stumbled upon this group just in time for their new 4-track EP, titled Promise. Collaborating between New Haven, Connecticut and Boston, Massachusetts, the inter-state duo of Max Heathand and Natalie Plaza doesn’t show any signs of strain as Promise brings a collection of near perfect dream-pop singles into realization. Between the swirling layers of electronica and the gossamer vocals of Natalie, Promise is one EP you’ll not want to miss out on as each track brings with it a distinct personality.

Punctuating the EP is the sparkling synth-pop cover of Duran Duran’s 1993 hit “Ordinary World.” Misty synths and airy vocals set the stage for Child Actor’s take on the track as an updated, yet distinctively retro drum line sets the pace.
