Tycho never fails to make us feel at home inside the world of his ambient, downtempo soundscapes.

His complex melodies have been easy on the ears of his growing fanbase since the Dive LP encaptured the music world in 2011.

Lucky for us, following a Grammy nomination and solidifying the #1 slot for Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums in 2016, Tycho is back. In an effortless surprise announcement this week, he gave us a first look at his forthcoming album. The “Easy” single is out on all major streaming platforms now.

LISTEN TO “EASY”

“My journey as an artist has been defined by an iterative cycle with each album building on and refining an overarching vision,” Tycho posted to his Facebook page. “‘Easy’ is about coming to terms with my past and defining a clear vision moving forward. It’s a comforting voice that reminds you not to get so lost in the work, but to take it easy and enjoy the ride. ‘Easy’ is the bridge to the future.”

“‘Easy’ is the bridge to the future.”

The artistic genius is formally named Scott Hansen. He represents the Bay Area and calls San Francisco home. Hansen self-proclaims that his goal is to focus inward, thus humanizing his music. He shared on social media that his biggest musical inspirations are Ulrich Schnauss, Boards of Canada and Photek.

All Tycho tracks are produced by Hansen solo, but for live performances these compositions are brought to life with the assistance of a full band. This magical collaboration of music and visual arts is exemplifies true, technical beauty. If you can, we recommend you catch a live Tycho experience this summer.
