If you’ve been around the Chicago nightlife scene for any amount of time, chances are high that you’ve stumbled into a club so full of energy, pounding bass and big room sounds that you nearly fell over. And chances are high that the DJ behind the decks at that moment was Kalendr. A Chicago music staple, Kalendr has had residencies in all the top clubs in the city and regular guest spots in all the hot spots nationally. His residencies both past and present include Spy Bar (one of ClubPlanet’s top 25 nightclubs in the U.S.), Crobar, Sound-Bar, The Mid and Studio Paris. He is a resident Groove Cruise DJ and hosts Groove Cruise Radio (check out his Groove Cruise 2014 mix below). Oh, and he’s also shared the stage with such names as Tiesto, Eric Morillo, Dirty South, Sander Van Doorn, Deadmau5, Kaskade and more.
As if that wasn’t a resume to hang your hat on, the Chicago native has recently turned to producing his own big room sounds for the masses. After releasing “Lost In The City” late last year with fellow Chicago producer/DJ Inphinity, Kalendr has followed it up with the soaring elecro house single “We Unite.” The release of the track comes at a perfect time as the Sochi Olympics strive to unite the world under the banner of the five rings. And as other countries struggle to do the same thing with their populations, perhaps the power of music can help bring, in at least a small dose, reprieve from the dissodance.
