If you were planning on hitting up Shambhala this year but have yet to get your ticket, you miay be outta luck. Canada’s longest running electronic music festival, has announced this week that the festival has officially sold out! Better start hitting up those Craigslist contacts.
Beginning in 1998 as a grassroots gathering of 500 people on founder, Jimmy Bundschuh’s family farm, Shambhala has grown primarily by word-of-mouth thanks to its past patrons and artists. Now in its 18th year, the festival will welcome 11,000 local and international participants to the Salmo River Ranch located in the forests of the Selkirk Mountains on August 7th-10th. With more than 300 performances by artists such as Kygo, Pretty Lights, Skrillex, Big Gigantic, Bonobo, Camo & Krooked, Claude VonStroke, Crnkn, Datsik, DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Harvey, Dusky, Koan Sound, Kry Wolf, Lucent Dossier Experience, Griz, Mix Master Mike, MK, Mr. Carmack, 2 sets by Tipper, Thomas Jack, and Zomboy (holy shit that was a mouth full), this year’s production will be one for the books.
If you do have a ticket, start getting your schedules together now. The 2015 schedule was recently released for the six stages: The Village, Fractal Forest, The Living Room, Amphitheatre, The Grove, and Pagoda. With contrasting musical styles, sound systems, and ambiance, each stage presents a unique vibe to lose yourself in. Hear more of what to expect at the festival through the highly anticipated annual Shambhala Mix Series featuring a compilation of exclusive mixes from this year’s lineup of world-class festival talent. Eight mixes have been added to date, with more to come. Read more on that here.
