[FESTIVAL] FYF Fest Dropped Its Lineup, We’re Officially Freaking Out
In late December of last year, the female artist Björk took to Facebook to relay her feelings about sexism in the festival realm.
After her vibrant performance at Day for Night Festival in Texas, the artist took to the internet to say what has no doubt been on the minds of many, although to a degree most will never understand to the full extent of the artist.
Her full post can be found here, but the gist of her post went as such,
“Some media could not get their head around that I was not ‘performing’ and ‘hiding’ behind desks, and my male counterparts were not [facing the same accusations]. I think this is sexism, which at the end of this tumultuous year is something I’m not going to let slide

IN THIS REVOLUTIONARY ENERGY WE ARE CURRENTLY LIVING IN THE MIDST OF
“Women in music are allowed to be singer songwriters singing about their boyfriends, but if they change the subject matter to atoms, galaxies, activism, nerdy math beat editing or anything else than being performers singing about their loved ones, they get criticized.”

WHERE WE FULLY MAKE THE TRANSFORMATION !!!
Björk’s post was incredibly important. In the music festival realm, the female headlining artist has been frankly non-existent, although it begs the question, for what reason? There are tons of female powerhouse artists..
Luckily, Goldenvoice (producers of Coachella) has named several fantastic female acts to top their bill for FYF Fest 2017, of which Björk is set to top.
Goldenvoice’s previously announced Coachella headliner Beyonce (obviously now Lady Gaga) was the first female headliner for the festival in ten years.. While this is quite alarming, it’s promising the organizers are working to right their wrongs and give the girls credit where it’s due!
FYF Fest’s female forces to be reckoned with include the absolutely legendary:
FYF Fest’s lineup is no doubt full of of radical acts sure to promise a killer time. We certainly think they’re doing it right. Male and female artists alike.
Consider for a moment that the festival will house art installations, sculptures, and its own night market with live music available on four stages, and you’ve got a must-attend festival on your hands!
The annual two-day music festival held in Los Angeles, California’s Exposition Park goes on sale this Friday March 24 at noon.
