Oh sweet bliss, my eardrums are rejoicing at the sounds permeating below. Glasgow based indie-rock troupe Franz Ferdinand have created an altogether sultry acoustic reproduction of Grimes‘ hypnotic single “Oblivion.” Trying to hit the feminine range of Grimes’ vocals is tough enough, but Alex Kapranos does a superb job holding on to the gossamer vibe of the original. Watching four grown men harmonizing “La la la la la” together during the chorus brings a smile to my face, and I really dig the transformation of the synthy bass line into plucky guitar riff.
