The first time I heard the gritty rock sounds of The Peach Kings was when they released their storied outlaw single “Thieves and Kings” about a year ago. Since then the California duo have been flying relatively low on my radar, up until yesterday that is, when I heard their new ‘swamp rock’ single “Mojo Thunder” off their upcoming EP of the same name. The track reverbs with a mix of edgy guitar sounds, some fat bass and a bit of gritty, dazed and confused California doo wop. “Mojo Thunder” sounds like the theme song to every strung out, Hollywood scene ever produced – and that’s a great thing.
