Such dark thunderous bass: it knocks off the little, hard pieces of my heart, like the dusk sky to a gargoyle.  At first glance, the booming sounds of ‘Got Well Soon’ portend nothing good, at least for the rosy of spirit; but with the proper passport of mind to ride them, they feel like liberation. ‘Got Well Soon’ minces no meat about its intent to clarify inner woe–“you’re either out or you’re in”–and it doesn’t hold any compunction or judgement how you do it, no matter ‘the acronym’ of substance  it takes to start get the life juices flowing again.

I like to think of ‘Got Well Soon’ as an anthem for the long-term lethargic-to-the-point-of-being-accidentally-mistaken-for-dead, a clarion call that reads more like a frustrated last attempt  for recourse than a gentle nudge. Breton wants us to be able to write on the walls the recipe for others of how we  ‘Got Well Soon’, because circling the drain even just for so long feels like an eternity. And it works.

Slowly, ‘Got Well Soon’s’ sounds reverb against your arteries, they massage the carotid and exorcise the aorta just enough. Suddenly, sludgy blood starts beating at the behest of a bullying mind, soundtracked by Breton’s war call. It’s fucking freeing, and if sweet listeners didn’t soil their pants in the first 3 mins, they’ll be treated with the rest of the song’s journeyers to a gradual lightening of the melody that feels as earned as any melodic catharsis this year.
