Dirtybird Records Migrates North For Relocated 2018 Campout Festival
Birds of a feather flock to new places together;
The Modesto Reservoir Campgrounds will host Dirtybird Campout West 2018 from Oct. 5th through the 7th. Originating at Oak Canyon Park near Orange County, Campout has moved venues twice since its first edition in 2015. Last year it was held around Lake San Antonio, the same location of Lightning in a Bottle. The festival’s newest site is inland of The Bay and south of Sacramento. It’s a three hour drive east from San Francisco, and four hours north from Los Angeles.
“Highlights include: campgrounds integrated into the festival grounds, a beautiful swimmable lake and a lush green field area. We can’t wait to share all the amazing improvements we have in store!”

This past February, the Dirtybird team faced unexpected struggles in the first attempt of hosting an East Coast Campout in Florida. Multiple noise complaints forced organizers to close the festival gates and pull the plug on all music for the entirety of the first day, putting a halt on several planned performances. Fortunately, this bump in the road was resolved after reasoning with county officials.
Organizations can either succeed in endeavors, or learn from them. Dirtybird Campout East was a definite lesson learned for the record label in regards to noise ordinances and festival planning, which should lead to extremely well thought-out preparations for October’s upcoming West Coast event.
