And see, I thought I wasn’t going to like anything past the Wankelmut remix. Truth be told, once a remix redefines a song for me, it’s hard for me to even venture to crack open another remix. It’s like pissing in a sanctuary or something. Asaf Avidan’s “One/Day Reckoning Song” holds a special place in my heart, knocking me the fuck out of a rut I was in and landing in my top 20 for 2012 easily.
But while the Wanklemut remixcame to define the trip-hoppy, meditative like freedom of the song, The Knocks remix explodes inside me the other part of that track: the need to throw myself on the dancefloor, sexuality and body barriers be damned and live like a “modern heart” (pun intended). Maybe for me the traditional path of romance is a little woebegone in my mind but the willingness to experience individuals in a flurry of heat and hot romps is far from it. The Knocks take that feeling and throw “One Day” into a perfect mix of dancefloor ready synths, ready for nights of intoxicating rushes of filth and love.
