When Dillon Francis released “Without You” over the summer, I, like Dillon, was going through relationship problems. In an effort to cheer him up, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs came to Dillon’s side to help write and produce the track. Consequently it ended up becoming one of my favorite tracks of the year as the lyrics completely spoke to the emotions I was going through. Truthfully, the words hit home for me and I truly felt “Higher without you now.” Uplifting and looking forward, “Without You” came to my aid as I realized how much better off I was without her.

The feelings that I had during those times have dulled, as most do given enough time, but the song still holds a place for me in the ebb and flow of 2013. So when I saw that Hayden James had taken the track and given it his unique electronic spin, I was thrilled to introduce the song back into my life during better times. Bouncy synths and percussions help round out the vocal cuts as the down tempo mix flows over a superbly syncopated beat.
