Ah, Skins, my musical landscape would be so barren without it. The E4 based teen drama taught me everything I need to know about pairing the emotionality of music with the daily moments of momentous drama in life. The musical director for that show has an insane ear for deciphering the rhythm of an emotion and using indie music to exploit every which way that emotion moves your body. I take those lessons into every soundtracking project that I do now.

So, as the show rounds its 7th and finale series, it’s no wonder that a show with such good taste was chosen to premiere Ellie Goulding‘s new track “You, My Everything” on part one of Skins: Fire. Fire finds fan favorite Effy finding the strength of her womanhood and growing unshakeable minute by minute of the episode.

“You, My Everything” sways with that same passion and power. It has the frenetic of energy and of a mind thrown open to the freedom of new opportunities, new places, and fuckloads of danger.
