Yeah Yeah Yeahs‘ frontwoman Karen O has teamed up with Vampire Weekend‘s Ezra Koenig for a stripped down, gossamer single titled “The Moon Song” that was featured in the recent AI love-based movie, Her. Starring Joaquin Phoenix, Her is about a reclused man who ends up falling in love with a Siri-esque personality that belongs to his computer. “The Moon Song”, which is nominated for an Oscar, is a simple single, featuring the vocals of Karen O and Ezra over some light guitar and piano, giving the track a definite feeling of fragility. Karen O, who co-wrote the track with director Spike Jonze, also recorded a solo studio version, which will be released through Rolling Stone as a three-song Moon Song EP coming to iTunes this week.

“It’s wild because ‘The Moon Song’ was written and recorded in the most humble of circumstances; at my dining room table, a few paces away from the couch I read the script for Her for the first time,” Karen O told Rolling Stone. “I was really excited at the prospect of getting to record it with a male vocalist. Ezra was super cool and open, he slipped into character like a champ and damn he’s got the goods.”
