[INDIE/ROCK] Cults - "High Road"

NY pop duo Cults are set to release their upcoming studio LP, Static, On October 15th via Columbia Records. They’ve already given us a taste of what’s in store with the first single off the album, “I Can Hardly Make You Mine” and now they have released their second single for our enjoyment, “High Road.” The single brings a feeling of dreamy, beach coast vibes as Madeline Follin’s vocals drift and weave a pattern of gossamer trails between ambient synths and dissonant chord progressions.

Brian Oblivion and Madeline Follin of Cults were originally a couple when the project began in 2010, but according to the press bio, Static is slated as a “breakup album.” Oblivion talks about the meaning of Static below:

“There’s a feeling our generation has. The feeling there’s always something better around the corner, that everyone is born to be a star. The feeling that life is waiting for you, and yet it’s not happening. All of that is static.”
