[INTERVIEW] Jordan Burns: Not Following The Crowd
Having recently dropped the brilliant “I’ll Follow” EP through Sony Music Australia, the incredible talents of house artist Jordan Burns have not gone unnoticed. With a classy finish to his sounds, this won’t be the last we hear from this young talent.
“I’ll Follow” is your first proper release. Tell us about it…
‘Ill Follow’ was a long time in the making. A lot of different styles influenced the final product. I’m happy with how it has been received so far and I’m really looking forward to getting more music released and working hard in the studio!
How important is it to have the backing of a big label like Sony Music?
It feels amazing to have such a big label believing in, and distributing my music. I feel my music has the best chance getting heard by the masses via Sony and I’m so humbled to be a part of the Sony family.
What is the deep house scene like in Australia? Does it have the same popularity as it does in Europe?
It’s definitely on the way up. There are a lot of Australian house producers doing big things at the moment and it’s helping the scene grow. Australia seems to follow in Europe’s footsteps when it comes to music. I hope one day people will appreciate it on the same level here as they do over there.
Your remix of “You & I” last summer was massive. Any more remix work on the horizon?
Cheers! I’m currently working on a few remixes but I’ll have to keep it under wraps for now though!
Who would you say your musical influences were?
House acts like Dusky and Tchami initially come to mind, to synth pop acts like Empire of the Sun and the Naked & Famous! There are way to many to list, but I love a broad range of genres and musicians who all influence my music!
It’s nearly summer festival season here in the UK. What are your plans for the summer?
I would love to tour the world and play my music to as many people who are into my sound, but right now I’m aiming for my 2nd EP to be out just in time for the Australian summer (December). I’m hoping to gain some more traction on Australian soil for the remainder of 2015, and then potentially tour overseas in 2016!
