Dubstep artist Twine is breaking through in a big way this year. Following on from a series of strong releases last year, the US based producer kicks off 2015 with a blinding set of tracks for Never Say Die. We grabbed a few words with the man himself to discuss “STRNG THRY” and more.

Where did the name “STRNG THRY” come from? Is it any relation to the music?

Not at first. Although I did look into the scientific theory that goes by the same name. It’s way over my head to be honest.

Do you have a favourite out of the three tracks to play out at your live shows? Which one has had the best reaction from the fans so far?

I’d have to say “Switchblade” – people never fail to go crazy to that one.

Can we expect any more collaborations from you in the future following on from your previous work with the likes of Datsik and Bear Grillz?

Most definitely! All will be revealed in due time…

Where do you start when you first enter the studio? Are there any elements of production you don’t enjoy?

Intros and breakdowns can sometimes be the most tedious parts of a track. But then again, it all depends on where I start. If I have a sick melody idea for an intro, then it can sometimes be difficult to make a “drop” that meshes well with that intro. Very unpredictable.

What was your standout memory from 2014, and what is the one thing you want to do this year?

I think it would have to be when I went to go see Skrillex in Tallahassee during his Fall tour. It was after the show in this club next door and I hadn’t said anything to him yet. He sees me and yells “AY ITS SPINOSAURUS!” It was the weirdest combo of laughter and awkwardness. And as for 2015, I just want to take over. No real specific goals, just whatever comes from working as hard as I possibly can.
