It looks like I am finally back on my dubstep grind and it could not have arrived at a better time. With the end of 2014 right around the corner, we here at The Sights And Sounds are gearing up for what promises to be an unforgettable 2015 campaign. To help close out this year with one heck of a bang, AFK & Dion Timmer slide back into the spotlight with the type of bass music remix that brings out the freak inside all of us. I’m sure that plenty of you heard TBMA’s (The Bolivian Marching Affair) original mix of “Obsessed,” but this revised version puts an entirely new spin on this absolutely stupendous tune. Having already collaborated in the past (see “Bond With Me”), there was little doubt surrounding these producer’s abilities to design a prototypical dubstep masterpiece.

Keeping the vocals of Lynn Gvnn completely in tact was the first element of this track that jumped out at me while listening. Instead of using vocal slicing or chopping, the build-ups benefit greatly from her comprehensive verses. As we meander through the song itself, AFK’s lead synth does some of the dirtiest work that you will ever have the privilege of witnessing. And do not think for one second that Dion Timmer’s contribution is not equally valued, because the briefcase of bass he continually carries around is always full of wompy surprises.

This song is the perfect example of what happens when melodic dubstep gets in touch with its bad side. So go grab this hefty freebie for yourself, you deserve it.
