Alison Wonderland has dropped “Church”, the second single off her much anticipated sophomore album, Awake.
The artists shares with us an original music video that takes you on an intergalactic journey from the alter to outerspace.
(Oh, might I add that the video provides a rare sighting of Alison Wonderland in a dress!)
Last fall, our favorite female Australian DJ/producer/singer/songwriter shared her first single, “Happy Place”, off her upcoming album.
“Happy Place” was about the finding a happy place during dark times, which are tied to the artist’s own struggles. Alison Wonderland really set the tone with the single and continues to show us that the follow-up album to her acclaimed debut, Run, would paint a musical picture about her own personal experiences.
With all that said, Alison Wonderland has been known to keep her personal life private.
But in “Church”, she really reaches out and connects with her fans by revealing her experience of getting out of a toxic relationship, which she discussed through her Instagram Story.
For those of you who have gotten out of or are trying to get out of a toxic relationship, this song will serve as a sermon to you. In the song and in the music video, Alison Wonderland (alongside a children’s choir) preaches about the emotions of becoming aware that you are in a toxic relationship and realizing that you should not have to put up with the bullsh*t.
If you don’t already know it, let Alison Wonderland tell you that you should be treated like church! Listen and watch the music video below:
