Just like the majority of EDM bloggers (at least the ones I’ve met), I do my best not to put too much stake into the Beatport Top 100 charts. However, when a musician manages to hold down a #1 position for almost a full month, there is usually a damn good reason for all of the commotion. Having been one of my favorite producers for the past couple years (alongside names like MUST DIE!, Dubloadz, & FuntCase), monitoring new Au5 developments has always seemed like second nature to me. In what many fans (and fellow artists) have referred to as his most anticipated release to date, Au5 uses “Snowblind” as a tool for tightening his stranglehold on a rapidly expanding bass music community.
Right from the get-go, you’ll notice that Tasha Baxter’s high-powered vocals provide the ideal complement to this dubstep crusader’s storybook introduction. When that 1:37 mark hits, you better grab a hold of something sturdy and hold on for dear life. I had a sneaking suspicion that the first drop would vaporize my speakers, but I never expected the second to spit all over the ashes. Who said melodic dubstep can’t be inconceivably heavy? Because Au5’s latest contribution should certainly silence plenty of those naysayers. Tunes of this magnitude don’t just stumble into your life everyday, so be sure to make the most of this musical miracle.
