Making its way out of Never Say Die today comes “Neo Tokyo”, the highly stylised new EP from bass sweetheart MUST DIE!. The Atlanta hailing has clearly been brewing this release for some time, and has said “After almost a year of writing, I’ve finally finished my favourite release to date!”
Made up of four tracks that fully embrace Far Eastern qualities, “Neo Tokyo” is likely to stand out as one of the most unique bass releases of 2015. It opens with “Onii-Chan”, an instantly likeable blend of shimmering tones and weighty, almost erratic moments. The title track comes next with its vocal-led simplicity and eye watering riffs. This is followed by “Fan Service” which is bright and heavily layered, before the almost rippling “Ebi” (Shrimp) completes this distinctive collection.
This EP is vibrant, dark and ethereal – managing to encapsulate a range of themes without losing any flow. You can purchase a copy of “Neo Tokyo” here.
