[Drumstep/Dubstep] Nasko – Glide

Another day, another German producer shattering the mold for bass music as we know it. Isn’t that how the saying goes? I’ve been fairly keen on Nasko for almost a full year now and the rapidly-rising producer has developed something of a pattern when it comes to nudging tunes past their traditional boundaries. For those of you in need of evidence to back up my bold claim, look no further than “Troublemaker,” “Feeling,” or “Lose My Mind.” Each one of these colossal tracks are a testament to this musician’s desire to become dubstep’s next golden child.

Now, I’m certain that some of you will be quick to toss out the Virtual Riot comparisons, and that’s all well and good. However, by doing so, you are not only doing yourself a huge disservice, you’re also (perhaps unintentionally) stunting the growth of a genre that’s struggling mightily to forge it’s future. The fact of the matter is that there will always be artists that sound eerily similar to one another. There’s literally nothing we can do to change that. Between the constant influx of new talent and not nearly enough different noises floating around the universe, you are bound to come across some repeat offenders.

As for today’s scheduled programming, we shift our focus towards “Glide.” The drumstep hybrid starts off at a ridiculously feverish pace before settling into a more controllable flow during the mesmerizing second drop. At various points throughout this rambunctious tune you’ll surely find yourself jumping up and down with unrestrained excitement. It might be smart to make sure you have some cushy soles in the shoes you’re wearing, because your heels are going to require all the support they can get.

Nasko is new to you now, but soon enough he’ll be the norm.
