The LAMP crew here in L.A. is back with something a little different today! While they’re known for putting out some of the freshest electronic music these days, this release is a nice break from that, tapping into more of a Hip-Hop vibe with driving percussion and politically-charged lyrics.

LAMP resident beat maker, turntable specialist and all around musical talent SBtheDJ has returned to LAMP with his good friend and collaborator Pilot Touhill, fully charged and amped up. He’s got to something to say, and you should all listen up. Here’s what he had to say about the new single:

“This is basically me making the music that I used to hear and I wish I heard more often. I’m a big fan of boom bap and rock guitars and this is my interpretation of those sounds with some flavor of my own. As far as content goes, all too often, mainstream artists and rappers specifically have this enormous platform to spread a message of awareness to those that might not hear it otherwise because they’re caught up by pop culture, but yet these artists fail to capitalize on that power of audience and instead perpetuate the ideals of narcissism the material greed of capitalism. I’m not a rapper. I don’t consider myself a rhymesayer at all. But I do make music, and I do think artists should address the political arena more often than not. So, this is me leading by example.”
