Love and Light have a thing for delivering funked out dubstep remixes of throwback rock tracks, having previously tackled Prince’s “Seven” and Queen’s “Fat Bottomed Girls“, among others. Now the Reno, NV duo tag team The Turtles’ 1967 classic single, “Happy Together.” With a slow, half time beat acting as the backbone, Love and Light fill in the meat of their track with grimy synths and funky vocal cuts. The original guitar melody is kept in and combined with the flower power vocals, gives the track a sort of eerie vibe juxtaposed with the dirty bass. Toward the end, I almost felt as if I was transported to some wierd cult shit – “We’re happy together… We’re happy together… We’re happy together”
